"God's earth in all its feelings and beauty
is for the people."
.................... Thomas Cook.
The great
German linguist and philosopher Max Muller once wrote about
India that if we were to find a place in the world which is the
most beautiful endowed with power and wealth that is India. This
is the place where the mankind sought solution of the ever
omnipresent queries of mankind like that of Chinese
civilization. But the unique characteristics of great
Indian Civilization evokes interest of the people from all
across the world.
Going
by the size India indeed is like a subcontinent. It is the
seventh largest country in the world and in terms of population,
the second largest country after China with more than one
billion people. India is land of multi-lingual, multi-cultural,
multi-ethnic and multi-religious diversity. But in spite of
diversity, there is an undercurrent of unity in Indian culture.
Hence scholars like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru pointed out that
India is a land of unity in diversity enriched with rich
cultural heritage.
As far as the physical division of the country is concerned,
India is mainly divided into four geographical zones namely -the
great mountain zone, the extensive middle section of the
Indo-Gangetic Plain, the desert region and Southern Peninsula.
Consequently the climate is also different as per the
geographical division.
As an ancient civilization, India reigned supreme in all
branches of knowledge from mathematics to medicine. Aryavatta,
the famous Indian mathematician first introduced the decimal
system of calculation in the world of Mathematics. And there is
no need of introduction about the Ayurvedic system of medicine
which is one of the best oriental system of medical science.
India still carries through the glorious tradition for the study
of medical science. In fact modern medical technologies and
facilities provided by the Indian hospitals like Apollo, AIIMS,
Tata Memorial Hospital etc are so sophisticated and world class
that many people from Europe and America are turning to India
for better and cost effective treatment.
A
wonderful country like India has precedent of development in the
field of Physics, Chemistry, Art, Painting, Sculpture and
Literature. The remnants of palaces, shrines, monasteries,
castles reflect the level of excellence of Indian
civilization. Places like Ajanta and Elora draws attention from
the history and archeology buffs. It is very congruent to
mention that the Indian art and culture are very much related to
religion as it has been the blood of Indian civilization.
In the
conclusion we can proudly say that the experience of Indian ness
is great for we had a season of light in the past as much as we
have it in the present age enduring the birth pang of a
