Bomdila :

Bomdila, 190 km from the nearest airport of Tezpur, and 146 km from Rangpura the nearest railhead, is the headquaters of West Kemeng district. The Place offers a view of the beautiful Himalayan Landscape, and also has a number of Buddhist gompas plus lovely apple orchards.

Tawang :

A little way off from Bomdila is Tawang at a height of 3,040 metres, and one of the highest administrative headquarters in the world Malinithan, 1 km from Lilabari airport, is the site of recent excavations revealing a flourishing city of 7 to 8 centuries ago. Its beautiful and exquisite temples and sculptures speak of a glorious past.
 

Malinithan :

Parashuram Kund :

Famous as the place where Lord Parashuram washed his sin of matricide, the Parashuram Kund is situated on the banks of the river, Lohit, 21 km from Tezu. The Kund is the scene of a big gathering of visitors and pilgrims coming for a holy dip on Magh Purnima (fullmoon during January).

Tipi :

Tipi, on the way to Bomdila, is situated at a height of 190 meters. Over 7,500 orchids of about 300 species, some very rare, can be seen here. There is also are Orchid Museum and Herbarium.

Namdapha Wildlife Sanctury :

The 1,800 sq. km Namdapha Wildlife Sanctuary, on the indo-Burma border in Tirap district, is a delight for the wildlife enthusiast. Its rare inmates include the famous snow leopard, the musk deer, and the Himalayan black deer, among numerous other animals.

And, in the district of Lohit lies the fortress of King Bhismaka called Bhismakanagar. Its strong ramparts on three sides, and a mountain wall on the fourth have made it almost impregnable. This was the ancient kingdom of Bhismaka where he gave his daughter, Rukmini, in marriage to Lord Krishna. Among the ruins is an ancient Shiva Temple. Bhsmakanagar can be reached from Tezu.

 

Ziro

Ziro with an area of around 10,135 sq. km is the headquarters of lower Subansiri district. It is situated at a height of around 9754 ft. and it is bounded on all sides by pine clad low stooping hills. This place is also known as Apatani plateau, which is again famous for paddy- cum- fish culture. The plateau is endowed with rich flora and fauna. The drive from Kimin check gate to Ziro is a wonderful experience as one passes through deep forests, rivers, rivulets and numerous villages.

TaleValley, Tarin Fish Farm, Parsi-Parlo archeological site, Orchid garden, Pine and Bamboo groves

How to reach Ziro:

Air : Helicopter service from Naharlagun

Rail : Nearest rail station-North Lakhimpur

Road : Buses/Taxis/Sumos ply regularly from Naharlagun, North Lakhimpur and Banderdewa checkgate.

Road distance to some important places are, Ziro to : North Lakhimpur-138,Naharlagun-157, Itanagar-167, Daporijo-180, Guwahati-509

Pasighat

Pasighat, headquarters of East Siang District, is situated on the bank of river Siang. Siang is the name of river Brahmaputra in Arunachal Pradesh.

How to reach :

Air : Nearest airport-Mohanbari (Dibrugarh)

Rail : Nearest rail station-Morkokseleng

Road : Buses/car ply from Itanagar, North Lakhimpur, Silapathar.

Road distance to some important places are, Pasighat to : Jonai-40, Naharlagun-260, Itanagar-270, Guwahati-615

Ferry : Dibrugarh to Oiramghat and from Oiramghat to Pasighat.

What to see :

Dr. D. Ering Wildlife Sanctuary for wild buffalo, tiger, sambar deer and wild ducks etc.

Other activities :Trekking/Hiking Route: Pasighat-Bodak-Ponging. Ideal for river rafting, boating and angling on the river Siang
